Three Bridges Friday Open Singles

Darren Gale (pictured) won the 'Open' singles competition held at Three Bridges Football club last night (Friday 3rd October), winning 3-1 against current PDC player Martin Burchell in the final. Gale, who played for RS Bumbles in the recent Crawley Summer League, was in good form beating Andy Gurr 2-0, Nick Edwards 3-2, Adam Campbell 3-2 and Mick Clarke 3-0 on route to the final. During the evening the former PDC player hit two 180s and was one of two players to take out a 14 dart leg. Forty players took part with Burchell beating Mal Bradford 2-0, Tony Arnold 2-0, Graham Brook 3-2, Mick Curren 3-2 and Alex Whiteside 3-0 to reach the final. Paul Woods was the other player to check out in 14 darts in his opening round win against Paul Burrows, finishing on 101. Ten maximums were struck in total. as well as the two from Gale, Burchell had two and there was one each from Curren, Edwards, Stan Jackson, Larry Kavanah, Kevin Reilly and Whiteside. Justin Terry had the night's highest checkout with a 120 while Rob Metcalfe finished on 116. Full results are listed below.
