Burchell Hits Form To Win Three Bridges Open

PDC player Martin Burchell (pictured) won the
fourth Three Bridges Open at Three Bridges Football Club on Sunday 6th
April,
collecting £117.50 in prize money from an entry of
47 players. Having received a bye in the First Round, Burchell went on to
beat fellow PDC player Andy Mason 3-1, fellow Diamonds team-mate Steve
Mecrow 3-0 in the Board Semi-Final and Surrey PDC player John Ferrell 3-1 to win Board 2. In the
Semi-Finals he beat Board 1 winner Alex Tinsley (Essex Youth) 3-0 then
former Sussex County player Jim Withers 3-1 in the final. In the other
Semi-Final, Board 4 winner Withers beat Board 3 winner Graham Hollis
(Surrey) 3-0. Earlier games on Board 1 saw February's winner Gary Newman
beat Ian Holman 3-1 and former runner-up Gary Miles beating Dave
Creasey 3-0. Miles then went on to beat Newman 3-0 before losing out
to Neil Smith 3-1 in the Board Semi-Final. Tinsley progressed to the
Board Semi-Finals with wins against Dan Bowers 3-1 and Mal Terry
3-0. In his Board Semi-Final Tinsley beat Tim Churchill 3-1 and in
the Board Final Tinsley beat Smith 3-1. Board 2 featured five PDC
players. Mecrow was in good form, beating former winner Danny King
3-2 in the opening round and Tony Ayres 3-0 in the Second Round.
Ferrell beat Mark Tomlin 3-0 in the Board Semi-Finals. Hollis
progressed to the Board 3 Semi-Finals with wins against Gary
Cook 3-1 and Bryan Taylor 3-0. In the Board Semi-Finals Kevin
Fishwick beat Wayne Dodd 3-2 and Hollis beat Dan Gardner 3-0. In the
Board 3 Final Hollis beat Fishwick 3-2. On Board 4 Withers
progressed to the Board Semi-Finals with wins against Paul Russell
3-0 and Paul Oakley 3-1. In the Board Semi-Finals John Jenkinson
beat Stan Jackson 3-0 and Withers beat Roy Turner 3-0. Withers won
the Board 4 final with a 3-0 win against Jenkinson. The Flying Pairs
was won by Tara Deamer and Danny King who beat Tim Churchill and
Kevin Fishwick 3-1 in the final. |
