BDO World runner-up Simon 'The Wizard' Whitlock (pictured)
won the latest Three Bridges Open competition held at Three Bridges
Football Club on Sunday 9th November, beating Billingshurst's PDC
star Tony Ayres 3-2 in the final. Whitlock, who competes in the
Grand Slam Of Darts in Wolverhampton next weekend had a three dart
average of 92.44 in the final, which included two 180s compared to
84.41 by Ayres, who had one 180. Whitlock won his board with wins
against Chris Gallagher 3-0, Chris Clewer 3-0, Danny King 3-1 and
George McKie 3-1 before going on to beat Graham Judge 3-2 in the
Semi-Finals. Ayres' won his board, beating Terry Hennessy 3-0, Rob
Modra 3-1, Martin Compton 3-1 and Martin Burchell 3-0. He then beat
Andy Derrick 3-0 in the other Semi-Final. In total fifthteen 180s
were struck. Ayres had five, Alex Tinsley and Whitlock both had
three, Kez Botting and Derrick had two and Ian Long and Judge had one each. Derrick had a 12 dart leg
as did Kez Botting and Kevin Fishwick and there were finishes of 148 from
Whitlock, 136 from Ayres and 114 for Botting. Burchell and Compton went on to take
the Flying Pairs, beating Derrick and Whitlock 2-1 in the final with
Burchell checking out on 108 and 101. The full singles results are
