Derrick Wins Fourth Bridges Open by Ian Holman

Derrick won his fourth Three Bridges Open title at Three Bridges
Football Club on Sunday 13th March from a disappointing turnout
of just 31 payers. Derrick was in fine form in the final finishing
in 16, 18 and 17 legs (88.41 avr) against Greg White. Derrick made
the Quarter-Finals without dropping a leg, with wins against Anthony
Oak and Andy Baller. In the board final he met Tony Denman who made
it there with a 3-2 win against Mick Clarke having received a bye in
the opening round. Derrick beat Denman 3-2 in a closely fought match
that included a 141 checkout for Denman. Derrick then beat Dave Fry
3-2 in the Semi-Finals in another close match. Fry beat Ian Holman
3-2 in the First Round despite a 156 checkout from his opponent, he
then beat Pelham Buckle player Gary Simpson 3-2 and Roger Milne 3-2
in his board final. In the other Semi-Final White was in good form
as he beat Graham Judge 3-1. White came through his board with wins
against Simon Langridge 3-0, Dave Mansell 3-2 and John Lee 3-2.
Judge won his board with wins against Brandon O'Neill 3-1, Derek
Furminger 3-2 and Alex Whiteside 3-1. 180s were hit by Derrick,
Judge, Rhonda West and Whiteside. Just six players entered the Youth
competition with Liam Caplin beating Matt Ansley 3-2 in the final
having beaten Jordan Hillier 2-0 in the Semi-Finals. In the other
Semi, Ansley beat Kieron Sullivan 2-0. Judge hit another 180 on his
way to winning the Flying Pairs with Charlie Lee. They beat Clarke
and Simpson 2-1 in the Final. Full results from the open
