Danny King Wins His Fourth Bridges Open Title by Ian Holman
Danny KingDanny King (pictured) matched Andy Derrick's four Three Bridges Open wins by beating him in the April Final 3-0 and collect the £100 winning prize after the lowest turnout yet of just 24 players. Despite the poor turnout there was some great darts on show with 14 maximums from 23 matches played and also a 170 checkout from Thurrock's Harry Miles. On his way to his beating Derrick for his second title of the year King beat his brother Tim 3-0, Andy MacIntosh 3-2, Harry Miles 3-2 and Kez Botting 3-1. Derrick made the final with wins against Anthony Morley 3-0, Liam Caplin 3-1 and Gary Miles 3-2. Botting 's route to the semi-finals saw him beat Rob Cross 3-0, Kevin Reilly 3-1 and Gary Simpson 3-2. Gary Miles made the other semi with wins against Gary Newman 3-2 and Tony Denman 3-0. Kez Botting, Liam Caplin, Danny King and Andy MacIntosh all had two maximums each with Rob Cross, Andy Derrick, Gary Miles, Roger Milne, Gary Newman and Gary Simpson hitting one each. Newman had a 120 checkout and Caplin a 108. Kieron Sullivan had a 130 checkout in the youth competition that attracted just six entries with Caplin carrying over his good form from the open competition by hitting another maximum and a 107 finish although he missed out on a second straight title as he ended up on the wrong side of a 3-2 result against Matthew Ansley in a repeat of the previous months final. Ian Holman and Lee Campbell won the flying pairs competition beating Danny King and Gary Newman in the final. Full open results are below.
