The
Southwater Summer Darts League staged its Finals & Presentations at
Roffey Social & Sports Club. For most
of the season Broadbridge Heath Village Club and the Hare & Hounds, Cowfold
were battling it out for the League crown, with the Broadbridge side
finally retaining the title they won last season. Ironically both teams
had earlier in the season battled through to face each other in Saturdays
Cup Final, again Broadbridge Heath Club were triumphant winning 3-2, wins
for Tony Harris, Kez Botting & Gary Kennard seeing them home. Ron Clarke
did restore some pride for the Hounds side, when he came through a tough
field to be crowned the new Singles Champion. Clarke had earlier beaten
the in form Tony Ayres, Graeme Cargan and Terry Thornton. In the Final he
over came Ashington's Paul Humphries 2-0. Humphries battled through to
play Clarke in the final by beating team mates Clive Pearce and Neil Smith
before eliminating Hare & Hounds Alan Wyatt in the Semis. Clarke then
teamed up with Andy Mason to win the Doubles title beating fellow team
mates Dave Miles & Jim Bain in the semis, before overcoming Alan Wyatt &
John Dawes in the Final. Wyatt & Dawes had beaten Terry Thornton & Pete
Wickersham in the semis. Other presentations were awarded to Tony Ayres (most 180's with five and best singles record with 16 wins from 17 games, Andy Alderton
(pictured) had the highest finish (156) and Kez Botting hit the most
tons (131).

Knock-Out Cup Competition & Dave Young
Presentation (26th July 2007)
The
Southwater & District Darts League held its Knock-Out Cup competition
featuring all 10 teams at Roffey Sports & Social Club. The eventual
finalists were the top two sides currently in the League who will meet in
the final at a later date. The sides are currently just one point apart so
a closely fought final is expected.
Leaders BHVC had to come from behind against the Kings Arms Billingshurst
and in the semis against the Railway also from Billingshurst.
Hare
& Hounds from Cowfold, eased into the final by beating Roffey SSC and in
the semi's Ashington Club.
Earlier in the evening a cheque for £613 was
presented to John Hastings a representative from the CHASE
organisation. Chase is a charity devoted to the care of terminally, and
seriously ill children. The monies raised came from the recently held Dave
Young Memorial darts competition. Pictured from left to right are
Dave Miles, Dave Ansell, John Hastings and Tony Harris.
