| 2008 League Format
The Divisions below have been based on the final finishing places from the 2007 season plus the addition of two new teams, who were placed in the B Division. Each Division will play each other Home & Away. On completion of the League stage, the top four teams in each Division will compete against each other in a Play-off to decide the overall Champions. Play-offs (Last 8) would see the top team in the A Division play the 4th placed team in the B Division. The 2nd placed team in the A Division play the 3rd placed team in the B Division, the 3rd placed team in the A Division plays the 2nd placed team in Division B and finally the 4th placed team in the A Division plays the top team in the B Division. The four winners would go on to the 2nd play-offs (Last 4) to determine the Champions of 2008. |

Week 9 Round-up (14th August 2008)
by Dave Miles In
this weeks penultimate round of fixtures of the League stage to
this years Competition runaway leaders of the A Division, Kings
Arms were made to work hard for their 5-4 victory at the
Ashington Club, young Ashington star Nathan Pearce hitting his
first maximum, meanwhile second placed Hare & Hounds found it
easier against bottom side BBHVC, winning 7-2, although
Broadbridge's Nathan Nichols struck his second maximum of the
season as some scant consolation. Railway A stay fourth
following their 6-3 defeat at home to Roffey Club, who remain
third in the table, Ali Blanche hit his third 180 for the home
side, and team mate John Dawes (pictured) hit
his first. Storrington Club cemented top spot, and qualification
into the end of season play-offs with a comfortable 8-1 victory
over the bottom side Star, with the Rising Sun moving into
second place after they beat nearest rivals Railway B 6-3.
Southwater Club received a 9-0 walkover from their outstanding
game with the Star, and were just beaten 5-4 by the Norfolk
Arms, but did enough to move into a Play-off place. |
Weeks 6, 7 & 8 Round-up (17th July
2008 - 31st July)
by Dave Miles Over
the past three weeks, both A & B Division leaders Kings Arms
Billingshurst and Storrington Club respectively have been cementing
their positions at the top by winning all their three games, and
both are firm favourites to go through to the Play-offs at the end
of the League stage of this years competition. Billingshurst's Kings
Arms had victories over BBHVC 7-2, Roffey Club 5-4 and second placed
Hare & Hounds 6-3, while Storrington's three wins came against
Southwater 7-2, Norfolk Arms 7-2 and Railway B 5-4. Other notable A
Division games saw the Hare & Hounds beat Railway A 8-1 and
Ashington Club 5-4, while the improving Roffey Club beat Ashington
5-4 and then beat BBVC 8-1, leaving both BBHVC & Ashington winless
over the three week period. Railway A responded well after their 8-1
mauling by the Hare & Hounds, by beating BBHVC 6-3, & Ashington 5-4.
In the B Division, the Rising Sun hold second place after recording
three successive wins, beating the Star 6-3, Southwater Club 5-4 and
the Norfolk Arms also 5-4. Railway B despite narrow 5-4 defeats by
the Norfolk Arms & Storrington, lie third and have an outstanding
result to come in, while the Norfolk hold fourth spot, just ahead of
Southwater Club who have a game in hand against the struggling Star.
Kings Arms' Tony Ayres again proved to be the man in form, striking
two of the four maximums posted over the three week period, while
BBHVC's Gary Kennard & Martin Turner of Railway B struck the
others. Railway A's John Dawes (pictured) hit the
second highest checkout of the campaign with a fine 150, while the
Hare & Hounds Rob Metcalfe 126, Storrington's trio of Dave Bullen
117 & 102, A.Hawkins 118, Richard Kinchin 106, BBHVC's Pete Sands
111 & Ashington's Clive Pearce 113 all had good efforts recorded.

Doubles Competition (Thursday 10th
July
2008)
by Dave Miles At
a packed Roffey Social and Sports Club 90 players took part in
the first league Doubles Competition. The first crowned
Champions were from the Kings Arms Billingshurst. Tony Ayres
teamed up with young Matt Gavahan to clinch the first prize,
defeating the BBHVC duo of Gary Kennard & Pete Sands.
From a tough top half of the
draw, Ayres & Gavahan (pictured) beat off the
challenges from Steve Collins & Graeme Brooker, Adrian Dudman &
Paul Hopkins, Nathan Nicholls & W Caswell, and in the semis team
mates Mark Knight & Matt Hoyte.
Kennard & Sands had earlier won through to face the
Billingshurst duo by defeating Dave Miles/ & Rob Metcalfe, Terry
Thornton & Pete Wickersham, Ian Russell & John Dawes, and
finally Nigel Panton & Doug Mason in the semi-final.
Ayres struck the only maximum, and that was in the final, while
young Rob Metcalfe notched a fine 177 (T20,T20,T19).

Week 5 Round-up (Thursday 3rd July
2008)
by Dave Miles This week saw the end of the first half of
fixtures, and there was not much too shout about with just the
one maximum and no high finishes with four of the six matches
ending with narrow 5-4 scorelines. Billingshurst's King Arms top
the A Division at the halfway point, and have a comfortable
eight point advantage going into the second half. Last week they
visited local rivals the Railway in a top of the table clash,
and came away with a good 6-3 victory, with skipper Ady Dudman
(pictured)
showing the way with the weeks only maximum, his second of the
season. Cowfold's Hare &
Hounds took advantage of the Railway's defeat to move back into
second spot following their hard fought 5-4 victory over Roffey
Social & Sports Club, while Ashington Club registered their
first win when disposing of BBHVC 7-2, but they still occupy
bottom slot in the table.
Storrington Club, like the Kings Arms, head the B
Division by eight points after they scrapped home 5-4 at the
Rising Sun, in fact all the B Division games ended 5-4. Railway
B made up for their A sides demise when overcoming the
Southwater Club, to regain second place behind Storrington, and
at the Star in Roffey, the home side, despite being bottom edged
a thriller over the Norfolk Arms to join them on seventeen
points.

Week 4 Round-up (Thursday 26th June
2008)
by Dave Miles It
took BBHVC, last years Champions until their fourth game of this
years competition to register their first win, and what a win it
proved too be. Nathan Nichols struck a maximum for the reigning
Champions, as they overcame the Hare & Hounds 5-4, a defeat that
dents the Cowfold sides chances of topping the Division. The
Hounds defeat leaves Billingshurst's Kings Arms comfortably in
top spot, after they cruised past Ashington 8-1, with Tony Ayres
& Matt Gavaghan striking 180s for the leaders, and Nigel
Wakefield (pictured) hitting the weeks best finish a
121. Railway A move up to second after posting a 6-3 win at the
Roffey Club, with young Ali Blanche notching his second maximum
of the season for the Billingshurst side.
Storrington Club picked up all nine points as their opponents
the Star failed to turn up for their match, leaving them a
massive eight points clear of their nearest rivals in the B
Division, the Rising Sun. The Sun are level on points with the
Railway B, although they lost out to their rivals this week 5-4.
Big checkouts were posted by both sides during the match, with
the Sun's Rick Buckley leading the way with 116, closely
followed by Ross Gillingham 103, and Crystal Woodrow's 100 for
the Railway. In a closely fought match at the Norfolk Arms, the
hosts finally grabbed their first victory, beating Southwater
Club 5-4. The Norfolk's win lifts them off bottom spot, a
position now occupied by the Star.

Knockout Cup Round-up (Thursday 19th June
2008)
by Dave Miles This
week saw a break from league action
as all twelve sides competed in the First
Round of the Knockout Cup where sides from both Divisions
were pitted against each other. The top tie of the round was an A Division clash between the current A Division leaders Kings Arms and last season's A Division Champions BBHVC in Billingshurst. But a much changed BBHVC from last season couldn't muster much of an effort, sadly going down 5-1 to their rampant hosts, while the Hare & Hounds cruised through 8-1 over the struggling Norfolk Arms from the B Division, helped by a Dave Miles maximum (his second of the season), also grabbing his second maximum was Paul Humphreys, the Ashington ace notched his during his teams narrow 5-4 win over Railway B of the B Division. Also hitting the magic score were team mates Adam Richardson and Clive Pearce, with Ross Gillingham hitting a consolation 180 for the Railway. Best finish of the week, also came during this match when young Nathan Pearce banged home a 108. Roffey saw off a brave challenge from lower division opposition in Southwater Club 5-4, but one B Division side did get through, when the B Division leaders Storrington Club comfortably overcame the Star from Roffey 7-2, with Dave Bullen on good form with a maximum. Another man in top form is Mick Short (pictured) of Railway A, the Billingshurst star shot a 101 checkout from a 15 dart leg of 501 (100,100,100,100,101), all this proved too much for the Rising Sun, who crashed out 8-1. |
Week 3 Round-up (Thursday 12th June
2008)
by Dave Miles Mark
Knight (pictured) was in sparkling form for the Kings
Arms during their top of the table clash with the Hare & Hounds.
The ace marksman hit a hat-trick of 180s, to help his side post
a fine 6-3 win over their arch rivals, a win that takes them top
of the A Division, skipper Adrian Dudman also notched a maximum
for the Billingshurst side. Elsewhere in the Division, the
Railway A hammered the Ashington Club 8-1 to move level with the
Hare & Hounds, while Roffey Club keep up the pressure on the top
three with a 6-3 win over winless BBHVC.
The top two in the B Division clashed at the Storrington Club,
with the hosts cementing their top spot with a fine 6-3 victory
over Railway B, two more 180s were hit during the game, Dave
Grinham for the home side, and Martin Turner for the visitors.
Southwater's John Hindle's early season good form continues with
another maximum, his third in three games, to help his side
clinch their first win, beating the Star 5-4. The Norfolk Arms
crashed to their third successive defeat, losing 6-3 to the
Rising Sun, despite Graeme Brooker's 123 checkout, the Arms are
left firmly rooted to the bottom.

Week 2 Round-up (Thursday 5th June
2008)
by Dave Miles![]()
No fewer than eight maximums were posted throughout the six
games played this week. Three were struck at the Ashington Club,
where Dave Miles, Jim Bain (pictured) & Ron
Clarke struck gold for the Hare & Hounds during their 7-2 win
over their hosts. There were also 51 tons struck between the two
sides with with Bain striking a 138 finish, and Adam Richardson
a consolation 108 checkout for the home side. Ali Blanche was on
target with a 180 for the Railway A as his side got back to
winning ways by beating BBHVC 5-4, while both Kings Arms &
Roffey Club drew blanks in Billingshurst as the Arms grabbed a
6-3 victory.
Southwater's John Hindle bagged a
brace of maximums, but all to no avail, as his side went down
5-4 to the Rising Sun, for whom Andy Alderton notched a 180. The
Storrington Club head the B Division following a good 6-3
victory at the Norfolk Arms, Tim Rogers' maximum being a
consolation effort for the Roffey side, while hot on the leaders
heels come the Railway B, they made it two successive victories
when narrowly beating the Star 5-4.

Week 1 Round-up (Thursday 29th May
2008)
by Dave Miles The
opening week of the new season saw
last year's
Champions, BBHVC made a poor start in the 'A' Division, crashing
7-2 at the Kings Arms in Billingshurst, leaving the winners the
early pace setters. Cowfold's Hare & Hounds started well, when
winning 6-3 over the Railway A in Billingshurst,
Andy
Mason (pictured) shot a 108 finish for the victors,
while back in Horsham, the Roffey Club also posted a 6-3 win as
they overcame the Ashington Club despite a maximum from Paul
Humphreys.
Steve Collins also struck a 180 for the Norfolk
Arms, but sadly all to no avail, as their visitors Railway B
comfortably won 7-2 to head the 'B' Division. At the Star in
Roffey, the hosts lost out narrowly 5-4 to the Rising Sun. while
the two new sides in the League clashed at the Storrington Club,
with the hosts running out 7-2 winners over the Southwater Club.
