Finals Night & Presentations (19th
April 2008)
by Dave Miles
|
Last
Saturday at Roffey SSC, the League staged its final action of the
season. It was Finals Night & the Presentations. The Singles Semis
opened the evenings action, with BBHVC B's
Charlie Johnstone (pictured)
beating Jason Trott (Rising Sun), followed by Neil Smith (BBHVC)
defeating Ron Clarke (Kings Arms, Horsham). In the Final held later in
the evening, Johnstone took the Singles crown, defeating Smith 2-0.
Smith partnered by Nigel Panton were then defeated in the Doubles Semis
by Andy Mason & Ron Clarke. Johnstone who teamed up with Mick Short had
earlier received a bye into the Final due to their opponents Tony Ayres
& Nigel Wakefield failing to show. In the Final Mason & Clarke proved
too strong for the BBHVC B duo, winning 2-1. In a close nail biting
final, BBHVC came from behind to beat the Norfolk Arms 2-1. In the
Trebles Final, Steve Collins defeated Pete Crossley in the Singles to
give the Norfolk the lead, Kez Botting & Andy Gurr struck back for BBHVC
by winning the Doubles leg beating Tim Rogers & Paul Williams to level
the score, but Andy Gurr's well hit double in the deciding Treble leg
clinched BBHVC's win. The
Norfolk
did eventually win a final, through Sue Rogers, she won a hard fought
Ladies Singles Final 2-1 against Sue Mason of the Kings Arms (Horsham).
In a final held earlier in the week, the Kings Arms (Horsham) took
the Teams Fives trophy, beating Billingshurst's Kings Arms.
All
the above winners & Runners Up received their awards from President Dave
Miles & Dave Jenkins, along with Kings Arms & BBHVC A Division Champions
& runners up respectably, Bedford & Southwater Club took the B
Division honours, While BBHVC won the Jack Tofts Knock-Out Cup. The
Rising Sun took the Mick Edwards Plate. A great 161 checkout from
Doug
Mason (pictured)
(Kings Arms, (Horsham)) earned him the top finish award. Neil Smith hit
the most 180's (five) to take the 180 trophy. Four players tied for the
most wins in the A Division, with Tony Ayres winning the play-off, there
was also a play-off for the B Division award, and that was won by Jason
Trott. Finally the Norfolk B took their customary wooden spoon
award to the biggest cheer of the evening. On the night, Ron Clarke (2),
Charlie Johnstone & Nigel Panton all posted maximums, bringing a final
tally of 42 struck throughout the season.

Jack Toft Cup & Mickey Edwards Ale Plate Finals (7th
April 2008)
by Dave Miles
 The
top two sides in the League, contested the Jack Tofts Knockout Cup
Final at the Star in Roffey last Monday. Newly crowned Horsham 5's
Champions the Kings Arms from Billingshurst were trying to clinch a
unique double by taking the Cup as well as the league but BBHVC who
narrowly lost out in the League had other ideas, and showed their
intent by taking the opening Treble & Doubles games for a 2-0 early
lead, Tony Ayres pulled one back for the Arms, but further wins for
Kez Botting (pictured), Pete Crossley and Andy Gurr put
the Broadbridge Heath side over the winning line, Adrian Dudman won
the final game for the Billingshurst side but the Cup was already
in BBHVC 's hands after a fine 5-2 win.
At Broadbridge Heath Club, the Mick Edwards Plate Final was held,
featuring two B Division sides, the Plough from Lower Beeding & the
Rising Sun. After the Trebles & Doubles it was tied at 1-1, but in
the Singles the Rising Sun hit top form, wins for Rick Buckley, Lee
Robertson, Jason Trott & Paul Zwoi clinched the Plate Cup, Simon
Tunmore grabbed a consolation win for the Plough, but it was the
Pondtail Road side who went home 5-2 winners.

Singles Competition (31st March 2008)
by Dave Miles
 Thirty-five
players competed in the Men's Singles competition held at the
Broadbridge Heath Village Club this week. Four players were trying
to reach Finals night to be played on Saturday 19th April.
From the top half of the draw Ron Clarke of the Star, and BBHVC's
Neil Smith won through. Clarke had beaten off the challenges from
Graeme Brooker, Doug Mason and PDC star Tony Ayres, while Smith
overcame Lee Robertson, Larry Kavanah & team-mate Pete Crossley.
From the bottom half, Rising Sun's Jason Trott (pictured)
and Charlie Johnstone representing BBHVC B qualified. Trott, playing
in the B Division won through by beating Chris Hammond, Ben Williams
& Nigel Wakefield. Johnstone qualified by beating Dave Bullen, Dave
Ansell & Nigel Panton. On the night maximums were posted from Pete
Crossley & Tony Ayres, while Graeme Brooker struck a fine 10 dart
leg of double in 401.

Week 14 Round-up (17th March 2008)
by Dave Miles
 During
the final week of League action, the Kings Arms from Billingshurst
were crowned the Horsham 5's Champions, while the Bedford took the B
Division title. Only two A Division games were played in the final
week. Despite crashing 5-2 to the eventually runners up BBHVC, the
Kings Arms did enough to clinch the A Division, while BBHVC finished
just a point adrift after being awarded five points for their
outstanding game with Roffey SSC. The Kings Arms from Horsham
overcame the Hare & Hounds 6-1, but couldn't move any further up the
table and finally finished fourth, a point behind third placed BBHVC
B, the Hounds Jim Bain (pictured) struck a 180 but
that was not enough to save the Cowfold side from being relegated.
In a nail biting finish to the B Division, the Bedford clinched
promotion to the A Division, by beating the Rising Sun 6-1. They
went on to take the title when nearest challengers Southwater Club
could only beat bottom side Norfolk B 5-2, but that was enough to
join the Bedford in the A Division next season. Both the Fountain &
the Plough ended the season on a high note, when they posted 6-1
victories over the Hare & Hounds B and Rising Sun B respectably.
Four players tied for the top player in the A Division. Ron Clarke,
Neil Smith, Tony Ayres & Adrian Dudman all recorded 10 victories
from 12 games played, while in the B Division Jason Trott & Tim John
posted 13 wins from 14 played.

Week 13 Round-up (10th March 2008)
by Dave Miles
The
A Division crown looks to be heading to the Kings Arms. The Billingshurst
side have a 5 point lead over second placed BBHVC B, and still have a
game to play while their nearest rival have completed their fixtures. The
Kings Arms main threat seems to be from BBHVC, who are third and are 9
points adrift, with a possible two games to play, and this week they take
on the leaders in Broadbridge Heath. Both the contenders had comfortable
victories this week. Kings Arms beat the Hare & Hounds 7-0, this despite
the Hounds Paula Lamb hitting her first 180 in a competitive game, while
at the Norfolk Arms, the BBHVC beat the hosts 6-1, a maximum from Graeme
Brooker was all to no avail for the Norfolk side. In the remaining game
the Kings Arms (Star's) Doug Mason (pictured) struck a fine 152
finish, to help his side overcome Roffey SSC 4-3.
It's all to play for in the B Division. In the
latest rounds of fixtures, the leaders Bedford crashed 5-2 to the
Fountain, leaving the Southwater Club who beat the Rising Sun 6-1 just 1
point away in second place. The final games sees Bedford play the Rising
Sun, while Southwater play the bottom side Norfolk B. The battle of the
bottom two teams, went in favour of the Rising Sun B, who grabbed a rare
win, when beating the Norfolk B 5-2, while the Plough from Lower Beeding
also hit five, they beat the Hare & Hounds B 5-2.
Apart from Doug Mason's great 152 checkout, the
Kings Arms' Tony Ayres hit a fine 134 finish during his sides 7-0
demolition of the Hare & Hounds.

Doubles Competition (3rd March 2008)
by Dave Miles
The League Doubles
Competition was held at Broadbridge Heath Village Club and attracted a
bumper entry of 26 pairs. BBHVC's Sussex star Neil Smith (pictured)
is proving to be the man in form, as he struck his fourth & fifth maximums
of the season on his way to the Semi-Finals to be held in April. Smith
partnered by Nigel Panton, had earlier seen off the challenges of BBHVC
team-mates Kez Botting & Andy Gurr, then Ian Homewood & John Dawes in the
quarter-finals. Joining them in the semis, will be Andy Mason & Ron
Clarke of the Star, they came through by beating Roffey's Gary Strong &
Andy Spink, and then ended the hopes of the young Southwater duo of Ashley
& Chris Hammond. Also through are the PDC star Tony Ayres of the Kings
Arms Billingshurst who teamed up with Nigel Wakefield to see off BBHVC B's
Dave Bullen & Pete Wickersham, and then the father & son duo of John &
Steven Hindle of the Southwater Club. The final qualifiers were the
pairing of Charlie Johnstone & Mick Short, the BBHVC B duo came through,
defeating the Rising Sun's Matt Peskett & Tim Street, then Dave Ansell &
Adrian Dudman from the Kings Arms Billingshurst. Short & Wakefield
celebrated there Semi-Finals places by hitting 113 & 120 checkouts
respectably.

Jack Tofts Cup Semi-Finals Review
(25th February 2008)
by Dave Miles
An exciting Jack
Tofts Cup final is in prospect after the two favourites were kept apart in
the Semi-Finals held at the Star in Roffey. Southwater Club skipper Steve
Hindle made the draw, and he duly pitted his side against BBHVC, while the
Kings Arms of Billingshurst drew the Norfolk Arms.
Board one saw B Division Southwater, despite
some excellent play from their young team succumb to their vastly more
experienced rivals 7-0, Sussex stars Neil Smith, Pete Crossley & Kez
Botting, along with Dave Miles, Nigel Panton (pictured) & Andy
Gurr didn't allowed the Southwater Club into the match, although Steve
Hindle and Ben Ferguson did manage to grab a couple of legs in their
singles. Pete Crossley notched the only maximum scored on the night in
celebration of his sides Final place.
On board two, in a repeat of last years Mick
Edwards Plate Final, the Norfolk Arms again couldn't beat the Kings Arms.
The Billingshurst outfit proved too strong, helped by PDC stars Tony Ayres
& Dave Ansell and ably supported by Nigel Wakefield, Matt North and
Skipper Adrian Dudman they ran out comfortable 6-1 winners. Norfolk's
solidarity point came in the Doubles, when Paul Williams & Graham Brooker
claimed the highly prized scalps of Ayres & Wakefield. Kings Arms, Matt
North hit a 103 checkout, the only 100+ finish on the night.

Week 12 Round-up (18th February 2008)
by Dave Miles
With
only a few League games remaining this season, it still remains uncertain
who will be crowned Horsham 5's Champions. Billingshurst's Kings Arms look
favourites as they have two games in hand over the leaders BBHVC B, and
are just two points adrift. They inflicted a 5-2 beating on the Horsham
Kings Arms severely denting their chances of winning, Andy Mason
(pictured) & Ron Clarke both struck maximums but all to no avail for
the Horsham side who now have a nine point gap between themselves. BBHVC B
ended their season on a high defeating Roffey SSC 6-1 to stay top, while
the bottom two clashed at the Hare & Hounds, with victory going to the
Norfolk Arms 5-2 over their hosts.
In form Tim John still remains unbeaten after 12
games, he won his singles against the Hare & Hounds B and also hit his
third 180 of the season as he led the Bedford to a 5-2 victory and
strengthen their hold on the B Division title. Nearest rivals Southwater
Club, suffered a setback when losing 5-2 at the Fountain. Both the Plough
& Rising Sun comfortably beat Norfolk B & Rising Sun B 6-1 respectably to
remain in mid table.

Week 11 Round-up (11th February 2008)
by Dave Miles
The
latest rounds of games in the League, saw Broadbridge Heath Village Club B
go top following their 4-3 victory over the Star [formally the Kings
Arms]. Ron Clarke and PDC player Andy Mason who struck a 180, earned wins
for the Star in the Singles, but Mick Short (pictured), Ady Davey
and Pete Wickersham won the game for BBHVC B with good all round
performances. The Kings Arms from Billingshurst look firm favourites to
clinch the Championship after their 6-1 trouncing of the Norfolk Arms,
leaving them one point adrift of the leaders, but they do have two games
in hand. Adrian Dudman shot the weeks best checkout a modest 105 for the
Billingshurst side. Reigning Champions BBHVC lost ground on the top two
following their game with Roffey SSC, which failed to take place.
The top two clashed in the B Division at the
Southwater Club. Leaders Bedford extended their lead over their hosts
Southwater to two points after they beat them 4-3 in a thriller.
Southwater Club started brightly, winning both the Trebles and Doubles
games to go 2-0 up, the Bedford hit back though James Westrip, Tim Street
& Tim John, John Hindle levelled for 3-3, the final single pitted
Bedford's Skipper Matt Peskett against 15 year old Chris Hammond,
Peskett's experience told in the end as he held out for a 2-1 win,
ensuring the Bedford stay top. Third placed Fountain could only beat the
Rising Sun B 4-3, therefore failing to claw back on the Bedford's lead,
and fourth placed Rising Sun were beaten 4-3 by the Plough to drop further
off the pace. The battle between the bottom two, ended with victory for
the Hare & Hounds B over the Norfolk B 5-2, their wins moves them out of
the bottom two.

Micky Edwards Ale Plate Semi-Finals Review
(4th February 2008)
by Dave Miles
The
league staged the Semi-Finals of the Micky Edwards Plate at the Southwater
Club, a competition for all First Round losers from the Jack Tofts Cup.
Both the Hare & Hounds A & B sides were kept
apart in the draw, but that’s where the luck ended for the Cowfold's
sides. Firstly the B's went down 6-1 to their near neighbours the Plough
from Lower Beeding with Lee Marshall being their only points winner, while
good wins from Mark Webber, Phil Harrison, Simon Tunmore & Steve Whyte in
the Singles proved too good for the Hounds B.
The second semi saw B Division Rising Sun cause
a upset by beating the Hounds A side from the A Division 5-2. Tony
Harris making a rare appearance this season struck a 180 for the Sun, and
this urged on himself & team mates Rick Buckley & Jason Trott
(pictured) to Singles victories to clinch a place in April's Final.
In an A Division fixture that was brought
forward, BBHVC B overcame Norfolk Arms 6-1, on form for the Broadbridge
side were Charlie Johnstone, Ady Davey, Mick Short & Pete Wickersham, with
Norfolk's sole point coming from Steve Collins.

Trebles Competition (28th January 2008)
by Dave Miles
The
League staged it's Trebles Competition at Broadbridge Heath Village Centre,
with over 40 players taking part . Two qualifiers were needed to contest
the Final on Finals night in April. BBHVC produced the first finalists, with
Kez Botting (pictured), Pete Crossley & Andy Gurr, they had earlier
beaten Tony Ayres, Nigel Wakefield & Adrian Dudman of the Billingshurst King
Arms in the Semis. Meeting them in April's final will be the surprise treble
from the Norfolk Arms, Paul Williams, Steve Collins & Graeme Brooker, they
beat Ian Homewood, Dave Bullen & Charlie Johnstone [ BBHVC B ] in the semis,
and earlier saw off the challenge from another BBHVC B trio of John Dawes,
Ady Davey & Pete Wickersham. Although no 180s were registered, Dave Miles
poked out on 106 for the only 100+ checkout. |
Week 10 Round-up (21st January 2008)
by Dave Miles
Sussex star Neil
Smith (pictured) struck his third 180 of the season for BBHVC last
Monday to help his team go top of the A Division as the Broadbridge Heath
side beat their B team 5-2, the B's Dave Bullen hit a 104 checkout for
some consolation. But surprise of the night came at the Norfolk Arms,
where the struggling hosts beat high flying Kings Arms from Horsham 4-3,
heroes for the Norfolk were Steve Collins, Paul Williams & Tim Rogers who
all won their singles, Collins & Rogers teamed up with Mark Beckwith to
win the Trebles Game. Roffey SSC grabbed a narrow 4-3 win at the Hare &
Hounds, helped by a 114 checkout from Mick Dukta.
It's tight at the top of the B Division, with
the Bedford leading by one point from the Southwater Club. Tim John
notched his second maximum of the season to help the Bedford to a 6-1
victory over Rising Sun B, John also tops the B Division most wins tables
with 10 victories from 10 games. Southwater have the easier run in to the
season and with young stars Ashley & Chris Hammond in great form, the
Bedford must be looking over their shoulders, Southwater Club beat the
Hare & Hounds B 5-2 in their latest outing, although Dave Marshall did hit
a fine 115 finish for the Hounds, while at the Rising Sun, the hosts
comfortably beat Norfolk B 6-1, with Jason Trott keeping up his 100%
unbeaten record. The Plough from Lower Beeding continue their good form by
beating the Fountain 4-3, helped by Phil Harrison & Steve Whyte who were
in great form.

Week 9 Round-up (14th January 2008)
by Dave Miles
An
exciting finish to the season looks sure to happen as only six points
separate the top four teams in the A Division after this week's matches.
The Kings Arms from Billingshurst lead by two points following their 6-1
victory over bottom side Hare & Hounds, while BBHVC ended the Star
[formally Kings Arms] unbeaten record winning 4-3. Both the teams Captains
shot 100+ finishes during the game, Andy Mason (pictured) struck a
124 for the Star, while Dave Miles hit a 102 for BBHVC. BBHVC B pounded
Roffey SSC 6-1 to keep in touch with the top three.
Its neck and neck also in the B Division, with
the Bedford's solidarity 180 separating them from the Southwater Club.
Both teams suffered mixed fortunes last Monday, leaders Bedford were
beaten for only the second time 4-3 by the Plough from Lower Beeding, the
Plough had early in the season inflicted the Bedford's only other defeat,
so the Bedford will be glad to see the back of the Plough for this
season. Southwater Club beat the improving Rising Sun B 4-3, while third
placed Fountain beat bottom side Norfolk B 5-2. The Rising Sun could only
beat the Hare & Hounds B 4-3, leaving them 10 points adrift of the
promotion places in fourth place.

Week 8 Round-up (7th January 2008)
by Dave Miles
Both
the Kings Arms Billingshurst & BBHVC took advantage of A Division leaders
Kings Arms having a bye to move above them in the table. The Billingshurst
side take top spot because of their better wins record, they had a superb
5-2 victory over BBHVC B, for whom John Dawes poked in a 180, but Dave
Ansell's 144 checkout helped the Arms winning cause. Level on pts with the
new leaders are BBHVC, they trounced the Hare & Hounds 7-0, helped by
maximums from Nigel Panton & Dave Miles, with Miles hitting his 3rd of the
season. Roffey's Gary Strong (pictured) notched a 180 during his
sides 4-3 win at the Norfolk Arms.
The top two in the B Division are just separated
by one point after this week's matches. The Bedford head the table
following a clean sweep against the bottom side Norfolk B winning 7-0, hot
on their heels are the fast improving Southwater Club, they beat the
Plough 6-1 helped by solid performances from young brothers Ashley & Chris
Hammond, but star of the evening was young Hannah Page, she posted a great
174 [T20,T20,T18], and then poked out on a double to win her Doubles
game. The Top two have opened up a comfortable cushion from 3rd placed
Fountain who beat 4th placed Rising Sun 5-2. The battle of the Basement
sides went in favour of the Hare & Hounds B with a 4-3 win over the Rising
Sun B, making it a bad night all round for the Sun's two teams.
Also played this week was a Mick Edwards Cup
tie, which had been postponed earlier, and again the Rising Sun B ended
up the losing side, as they bowed out of the Competition 4-3 to the Hare &
Hounds.

Flying Pairs (17th December 2007)
by Dave Miles
Despite a poor turnout,
the last event of 2007 still proved a success. The Flying Pairs produced
some great darts, including two maximums from Pete Wickersham & Dave
Miles (pictured). The qualifiers for next April's final's night were
Alan Wyatt [ Kings Arms ] & Mick Short [ BBHVC B ], they had earlier beaten
Rick Buckley/Gary Strong and Ady Davey/Andy Spink on the way to the
final. In April's Final they will meet the BBHVC B duo of Dave Bullen & John
Dawes, who saw off the challenges from Gary Kennard/Pete Wickersham and Dave
Miles/Andy Mason. |
Jack Tofts Cup Quarter-Finals Review (10th
December 2007)
by Dave Miles
| In the Jack Tofts Cup
Quarter-Finals all four ties ended 4-3, reigning Cup holders BBHVC went
through by beating their B side, Neil Smith clinched their semi-final place
when defeating Ian Homewood in the deciding game. A Division leaders Kings
Arms from Horsham crashed out to their namesakes from Billingshurst, while
the Norfolk Arms beat last seasons runners up the Fountain, but the shock of
the round came at the Southwater Club, the B Division side spurred on by
Ashley & Chris Hammond. John & Steven Hindle put out A Division opposition
Roffey SSC to book their semi-final place. |

by Dave Miles
The League reached its halfway stage this
week. The Kings Arms of Horsham lead the A Division, with Billingshurst's
Kings Arms two points adrift, both the BBHVC teams are a further two pts
off the pace, while the Hare & Hounds are currently in the relegation

wins in the singles for John Dawes, Ian Homewood & Ady Davey helped them
over the winning line.

Week 6 Round-up (26th November 2007)
by Dave Miles
In
the penultimate round of fixtures before the halfway point in the League,
there was a distinct lack of highlights around the boards. But BBHVC did
go top of the A Division after their 7-0 trouncing of the Norfolk Arms, a
defeat that drops the Arms into the relegation spot. Horsham's Kings Arms
beat Roffey SSC 5-2 to stay second, Roffey's Terry Thornton shot a 110
finish as some consolation, while long time leaders BBHVC B dropped down
to third following their bye. Billingshurst's Kings Arms helped by
victories in the Singles by Tony Ayres, Nigel Wakefield (pictured),
Dave Ansell & skipper Adrian Dudman beat the Hare & Hounds 5-2 to lie a
close fourth.
Team
mates Tim John & Matt Peskett remain undefeated with 6 wins from 6, that
form has helped the Bedford to the top of the B Division, last Monday the
Bedford produced a good all round performance to beat the Fountain
4-3. Southwater Club stay 2nd despite losing 4-3 at the Rising Sun, for
whom Jason Trott remains unbeaten, while Simon Tunmore's 107 checkout
helped the Plough to a 4-3 victory over the Hare & Hound B. Finally the
Rising Sun B recorded their first ever win, they took both the Trebles &
Doubles games, and then wins in the Singles for Dave Beech, Phil Tyrell &
Stuart Worsfold clinch a fine 5-2 win over the Norfolk B.

Week 5 Round-up (12th November 2007)
by Dave Miles
Things
are hotting up in both A & B Divisions after the latest rounds of
fixtures. A Division leaders BBHVC B stay top after a narrow 4-3 win over
Roffey SSC, their win was helped by in form Charlie Johnstone
(pictured) who struck a 180, and two big 113 & 106 checkouts from
Adrian Davey. Having played a game more, BBHVC B will be looking over
their shoulders next Monday as Horsham's unbeaten Kings Arms play their
game in hand. Last Monday the Horsham side beat the Kings Arms from
Billingshurst in another tight game 4-3, while in the single of the
night Ron Clarke ended Tony Ayres unbeaten record by winning 2-0,
although Ayres did respond with a maximum. Norfolk Arms finally posted a
win when they beat the Hare & Hounds again by a 4-3 scoreline, with the
Arms winning heroes being Steve Collins, Graeme Brooker & Tim Rogers.
The Bedford took advantage of the Fountain's
game against Southwater Club being postponed to climb above them to the
top of the B Division, with only one defeat behind them, the Bedford are
proving a difficult side to beat, as the Hare & Hounds B found out during
their 6-1 thumping in Cowfold. The Rising Sun are putting a good run
together after beating their B side 4-3 and move into the top two, wins in
the Trebles and Doubles were shared, but wins for Jason Trott, debutant
Rick Buckley & Lee Robertson saw the A's home, with Phil Tyrell & Jon
Rendall grabbing the B's wins. After last weeks superb victory, the
Norfolk B came crashing back down to earth with a thump, losing 7-0 to the
Plough in Lower Beeding.

Week 4 Round-up (5th November 2007)
by Dave Miles
Broadbridge Heath
Village Club B lost their 100% record last Monday when they were beaten
4-3 at the Kings Arms in Horsham in a close fought game. Both sides were
level after the opening Treble & Doubles, but wins for Ron Clarke
(pictured) and Doug & Andy Mason in the Singles put the hosts over the
winning line, Ian Homewood & John Dawes made the scoreline more
respectable for BBHVC B to enabled them to stay top of the A
Division. Level on points at the top are BBHVC A after they easily
overcame Roffey SSC 6-1, the reliable Gary Strong earning Roffey their
single point and checking out on a 121. Billingshurst's Kings Arms also
won 6-1, big wins for Nigel Wakefield, Tony Ayres, Adrian Dudman & Matt
North proved too strong for the Norfolk Arms, although Tim Rogers did hit
a consolation 180.
The Fountain remain unbeaten in the B Division
with four consecutive victories, the latest being 7-0 over the Rising Sun
B a win that moves them top of the table. Both the Bedford & Rising Sun
have the same points but have lost a game, but both sides did win last
week, the Bedford ended Southwater Club's good run winning 5-2, while the
Rising Sun beat the Plough 4-3, Tom Potter, Matt Hammond & James
Ulloa won their singles for the Plough, but Jason Trott , Dave Fellowes
and victories in both trebles & doubles saw the hosts home, a 111 checkout
was also posted by Fellowes, the best of the week. Norfolk B moved off the
foot of the table following a rare win, they overcame the Hare & Hounds B
in a nail biting finish 4-3, wins for Steve Pollard & Ant Covey in the
Doubles, followed by wins in the Singles for Sue Rogers, Covey & Pollard
ensured their victory.

Jack Tofts Cup First Round Review
by Dave Miles
The
opening round of this seasons Jack Tofts Knockout Cup held in memory of
the popular Horsham darts legend failed to produce any major shocks, with
all the top sides safely progressing through to the Second Round.
Reigning Cup holders BBHVC (formally the Coot) were hosts to B Division
Rising Sun, and eased through 6-1, with the Suns Dave Fellowes putting his
dartitis behind him to beat Sussex ace Kez Botting for their solidarity
game. Another 6-1 scoreline had Billingshurst's Kings Arms beat another B
Division opponent in the Hare & Hounds B, with the Hounds only point being
won by Dave Marshall, while the Arms Nigel Wakefield (pictured)
produced the best effort of the night with a 105 finish. Veteran Jim Bain
was the Hare & Hounds only winner during his sides 6-1 defeat by the Kings
Arms Horsham in the all A Division clash. Young Matt Broadbent registered
his first ever 180 for the Fountain as the Roffey based side beat near
neighbours Rising Sun B 5-2, while at the Norfolk Arms, the hosts proved
too strong for the Plough winning 7-0 making it the best win of the First
Round, a 100 checkout from Paul Williams helped their win. B Division
leaders Southwater Club's good form continues in the Cup with a 5-2
victory over Norfolk B.

Week 3 Round-up (22nd October 2007)
by Dave Miles
There
were five maximums struck around the boards during last Mondays games. In
the pick of the weeks games, the top two in the A Division clashed at
Broadbridge Heath Village Centre where three 180s were hit, two for Neil
Smith and one for Andy Gurr, but they proved to be all in vain for BBHVC
as they slipped to a 4-3 defeat by their B side. Despite losing the
Trebles & Doubles, the B's came good in the Singles with solid
performances from Charlie Johnstone (pictured), Ian Homewood, John
Dawes & Dave Bullen, the A's Andy Gurr took the final Single to keep the
scores respectable. Broadbridge B now top the Division by 3pts. Horsham's
Kings Arms completed a resounding 7-0 humping of Norfolk Arms helped by a
maximum from Larry Kavanah & a great 170 double in shot from Ron Clarke,
leaving the Roffey side propping up the Division. Roffey SSC proved too
strong for the Hare & Hounds, winning their game 5-2.
The
Bedford's Tim John struck a 180 during his teams emphatic 6-1 beating of
the Rising Sun B, John along with Matt Peskett, Tim Street & James Westrip
won their singles to put the Bedford over the winning line, while the
Sun's only point came via Phil Tyrells deadly arrows. The Rising Sun A
made up for their B 's defeat by trouncing Norfolk B 7-0, leaving them
and the Bedford 2nd & 3rd in the table. Leading the B Division by 2pts
are Southwater Club, they have a 100% record after three games, winning
this week 6-1 against visitors Hare & Hound B. Another team boasting an
100% record are the Fountain, they went to the Plough in Lower Beeding and
triumphed 4-3, helped by wins in the singles from Bryan Light, Paul
Eggleton & Geoff Broadbent.
