Danny King Retains Good Friday Singles Title by Ian Holman

King continued his good form after winning two of this year's Three
Bridges Open's by retaining the Good Friday Singles title at Three
Bridges Football Club. From a field of 65 entries King won six
matches to win the competition beating Kevin Fishwick 3-2 in an
entertaining final that saw the opening four legs go against the
throw. King struck five maximums on the night while Fishwick hit
four and Rob Cross checked out on 160 for the highest finish of the
night. King's route to the final saw him beat Dave Critchley 3-0,
Gary Simpson 3-0, former champion Mick Clarke 3-1, Steve Horn 3-0
and Adam Griffiths 3-0. Fishwick made his way to the final by
beating Vince Nemenyi 3-2, Dave Mansell 3-2, Darren Gale 3-0, Kurtis
Atkins 3-1 and Clive Pearce 3-1. Griffiths reached the semi-finals
with wins against Mick Phelan 3-1, Gary Newman 3-1, Dan Grimmett 3-1
and Andy King 3-1 while Pearce got there by beating Steve Riggs 3-1,
Justin Terry 3-0, son Nathan Pearce 3-1 and Neil Smith 3-2. A total
of 17 maximums were recorded with two each from Gary Simpson and
Neil Smith and one apiece from Derek Furminger, Steve Horn, Andy
King and Rob Metcalfe. Further high checkouts came from Clive Pearce
147, Kurtis Atkins 146, Neil Smith 120, Gary Simpson 110 and Kevin
Fishwick 106.Earlier in the day Stan Jackson and Alan Colgate beat
Kevin Fishwick and Mark Fluck 3-2 in the Flying Pairs final and Neil
Smith, Kevin Fishwick and Nigel Martyn beat Derek Furminger, Owen
Grantham and Matt Wenham 2-1 in the Flying Trebles final.
Darren Gale won the 1001 challenge with a 36
dart leg. Fishwick struck a 170 finish in the Flying Trebles
