| 2008/9 League Format
This season the league season will be played with two divisions from the outset with the highest positioned sides from last season playing in the 'A' Division and the others along with some new sides in the 'B' Division. Nine teams will compete in each division with teams playing each other twice. Matches are played over three sets of Pairs and six sets of singles. Each being 501 up, best of three legs. The Singles are drawn after the Pairs have been played. One point is awarded for each set won. |

League Trebles Play-offs (11th May 2009)

Swan trio of Will Bolton, Graham Brook and Tommy Walker will meet
Labour Club's Warren Grantham, Ian Holman and Rob Metcalfe in the
final of the league Trebles competition. Richard Allen (The Old
Plough), Alan Burling (Three Bridges Bumbles) and Metcalfe all hit
maximums at the play-offs at the Labour Club.

Knockout Cup Round-up (27th April 2009)

Division champions Sperry are on course for a league and cup double
for the second time in their history. in a close fought match at the
Conservative Club, Sperry defeated Pelham Buckle 6-0 in their Cup
Semi-Final with three of the games going to the deciding fifth leg.
Sperry players Phil Smith (pictured), Steve Mecrow
and Ernie Potter all hit maximums. Sperry will meet The Royal Oak
who beat Labour Reds 4-2 to reach next month's final. The
Consolation Cup lived up to it's name with both the division
runners-up winning their Semi-Finals at the Labour Club. 'A'
Division side The Swan beat The Downsman 6-0 and Legion Lions made
up for missing out on the 'B' Division title when they defeated The
Swan B 5-1. |

League Pairs Play-offs (20th April 2009)
by Ian Holman Sperry's hopes of retaining the league Pairs competition are with Terry Harmsworth and Steve Mecrow as they made it through to the 'A' Division final where they will meet Labour Reds duo Ty Coward and Kevin Reilly. Legion Lions pair Richard Dixon and Scott Hough are through to the 'B' Division final along with Pelham Buckle's Steve Horn and Gary Simpson. In the play-offs Sperry's Kevin Fishwick hit his ninth maximum of the season and Legion Lions' Collum McDonagh hit his second while Kevin Reilly had a 115 checkout. |

Knockout Cup Round-up (30th March 2009)

Woods (pictured) hit his third maximum of the season as The
Royal Oak edged out Three Bridges Bumbles 4-3 in the Quarter-Finals
of the Knockout Cup. Sperry beat Labour Rebels 5-1 with Mal Bradford
also recording his third 180. Roy Oxlade and Ben Souter also hit
180s as Labour Reds beat The Plough Ifield 4-2 while Stewart Blake's
118 checkout was not enough as his side The Old Plough lost out 4-2
against The Pelham Buckle. In the Consolation Cup Ron Webster hit a
maximum but his side The Imperial ended up on the wrong side of a
4-2 result against The Downsman. The Swan beat The Plough Ifield B
5-1, Legion Lions beat Conservative Club 4-2 and The Swan B beat
Lost Legion 4-2. |
Week 17 Round-up (23rd March 2009)

are just a point away from re-claiming the A division title after
their second straight 9-0 victory. This time the beat basement side
The Plough Ifield B. The Swan beat The Plough Ifield 5-4 while third
placed Three Bridges Bumbles lost out 6-3 against The Royal Oak with
Gary Kozel hitting a maximum for The Oak and Paul Trivass
(pictured) checking out on 115. Labour Club beat Labour
Reds 5-4 in the other top division match. The battle for the B
Division title will come down to the last game as unbeaten Legion
Lions 6-3 win against Lost Legion leaves them on the same points as
The Old Plough, who beat Labour Rebels 8-1 with Tony Bedford hitting
a 180 for The Old Plough. Steve Horn also hit the top score as The
Pelham Buckle beat Conservative Club 8-1. In the other match The
Downsman beat The Rose and Crown 5-4. |
Week 16 Round-up (16th March 2009)

Division league leaders Sperry reached the 100 point mark with a 9-0
win against The Imperial this week. Three Bridges Bumbles won 7-2
against The Plough Ifield despite John Usher striking his third
maximum of the season. Labour Reds were in great form as they beat
The Plough Ifield B 8-1 with 180s from Tracy Lucas and Kevin Reilly.
Reilly also had a 144 finish while Keith Shotter (pictured)
checked out on 130. In reply The Plough Ifield B's Scott Warren
struck a 180. Rob Metcalfe checked out on 116 as Labour Club beat
The Royal Oak 5-4. In the B Division The Old Plough narrowed the gap
at the top to just two points with a 7-2 victory against The Swan B
with Alex Haynes checking out on 116. Pelham Buckle beat Lost Legion
6-3 and The Downsman beat Labour Rebels 5-4. Mark Lancaster hit a
105 finish as Conservative Club beat The Rose and Crown 5-4 with
Ryan Trivass finishing on 115 for the basement side.

League Singles Play-Offs (9th March 2009)

A Division Singles play-offs were held at Three Bridges Football
Club with Sperry's Kevin Fishwick and Steve Mecrow progressing to
the final. Fishwick beat Justin Peters in the last 16 and then went
on to beat team-mate Ernie Potter in the Quarter-Finals and The
Plough, Ifield's Russell Davis in the Semi-Finals. Davis had earlier
beaten Ty Coward in the last 16 and Terry Harmsworth in the
Quarter-Finals. Ernie Potter beat John Usher in the last 16 while
Harmsworth beat Tommy Walker. Steve Mecrow made his way to the final
by beating Will Bolton in the last 16, Paul Burrows in the
Quarter-Finals and Rob Metcalfe in the Semi-Finals. Metcalfe beat
Phil Smith in the last 16 and Ian Holman in the Quarter-Finals.
Burrows beat Tery Penfold in the last 16 while Holman beat Kevin
Reilly. In the B Division competition at the Labour Club,
14-year-old Owen Grantham (pictured) of Labour
Rebels progressed to the divisional final by beating Lost Legion's
Dave O'Neill. There he will meet The Pelham Buckle's Steve Horn who
won his last four match against team-mate Gary Simpson.

the top three sides in the 'A' Division not playing this week it was
a chance for fourth placed The Royal Oak to make up some ground, but
they came unstuck as The Plough Ifield B recorded their first win of
the season with a 5-4 victory. Warren Grantham checked out on 113 as
Labour Club beat The Plough Ifield 5-4 with John Usher hitting his
second maximum of the season for The Plough. In the other top
division match Labour Reds beat The Imperial 6-3. Scott Howe
(pictured) hit his first maiden league maximum and Neil
Hopgood finished on 100 for 'B' Division leaders Legion Lions as
they kept their unbeaten run going and extend their lead at the top
to nine points with a 5-4 win against The Pelham Buckle. Labour
Rebels beat Conservative Club 6-3 with the ever improving Owen
Grantham in fine form in the singles, Duane Adams hit a 180 as The
Downsman beat The Swan B 5-4 and Lost Legion recorded a 7-2 win
against bottom of the table The Rose and Crown. |

Week 13 Round-up (2nd February 2009)

Swan narrowed the gap at the top of the A Division this week to just
four points after a 9-0 win against bottom of the table The Plough
Ifield B. Leaders Sperry beat The Royal Oak 6-3 in an entertaining
match that saw The Oak's Paul Trivass (pictured) hit his fifth maximum of the
season as well as checking out on 110. Team mate Dave Parker had the
night's highest checkout with 127 and Sperry's Ernie Potter struck a
112 finish. Third placed Three Bridges Bumbles beat Labour Club 5-4
with Paul Burrows finishing on 106 for the victors and Rob Metcalfe
firing in his fourth maximum for Labour Club. The Plough Ifield beat
The imperial 5-4 in the top division's other match. Just three
matches were played in the B Division, leaders Legion Lions beat
third placed Labour Rebels 5-4, The Pelham buckle beat The Rose and
Crown 7-2 and The Swan B beat Lost Legion 6-3. The match between
Conservative Club and the Old Plough takes place on 9th February.

Week 12 Round-up (26th January 2009)

continued their unbeaten run at the top of the A Division this week
with an 8-1 win against The Plough Ifield. The Swan are now seven
points adrift after their 6-3 win against The Imperial. Three
Bridges Bumbles remain in third after beating The Plough Ifield B
8-1 while Labour Reds picked up a 6-3 away to The Royal Oak. In the
B Division its looks as though three sides could be fighting it out
for the title. Legion Lions remain unbeaten at the top after an 8-1
win against The Swan B. The Old Plough are three points adrift after
their 8-1 win against Lost Legion while Labour Rebels are a further
six points behind with a game in hand as they beat Pelham Buckle
5-4. In the other match The Downsman beat Conservative Club 5-4.
Three maximums were struck this week by Dick Brice (Pelham Buckle),
Stan Jackson (Three Bridges Bumbles) (pictured) and
John Usher (The Plough Ifield). Jackson also struck the weeks
highest finish of 102. |

A Division leaders Sperry made it ten wins on the bounce this week
with a 7-2 result against third placed Three Bridges Bumbles. The
Swan also won 7-2 against Labour Reds with Paul Chesworth
(pictured) hitting a maximum. The Royal Oak beat The Plough
Ifield 5-4 and Labour Club beat The Imperial 6-3 in the top
division's other matches. Dave O'Neill hit a 180 for Lost Legion as
they lost 6-3 against Conservative Club while Legion Lions continued
their unbeaten run in the league with an 8-1 win against The
Downsman. The Old Plough beat The Pelham Buckle by the same score
with the victors Leigh Chitty hitting a maximum while bottom placed
The Rose and Crown beat The Swan B 6-3. |

Knockout Cup Round-up (15th December 2008)

season’s Knockout Cup winners The Swan were beaten at home in the
First Round by The Royal Oak. The match was all-square after the
sixth game when Swan’s Adam Campbell defeated Duncan Elms but, in
the decider, Campbell lost to Paul Trivass to put the Oak through to
the next round in February.
Previously unbeaten 'B' Division leaders Legion Lions met the top
team in the 'A' Division, Sperry at Three Bridges Football Club and
went four nil down before winning the last two games with Richard
Dixon hitting two maximums for the Lions and Dave Smith checking out
on 109. Steve Souter (pictured) hit a 180 as Labour
Reds beat The Rose and Crown 5-1 for whom Ryan Trivass checked out
on 115, Three Bridges Bumbles beat Lost Legion 5-1, Labour Club beat
The imperial 4-2, The Plough Ifield beat The Downsman 4-3, Labour
Rebels beat The Plough Ifield B 4-2, The Old Plough beat
Conservative Club 4-2 and The Pelham Buckle had a walkover against
The Swan B.

the last league matches before the christmas break the top three
sides in the A Division all picked up 6-3 wins. Leaders Sperry beat
Labour Club with Kevin Fishwick hitting his sixth 180 of the season.
Paul Woods checked out on 100 for the Royal Oak but it wasn't enough
to stop his side going down 6-3 against current champions The Swan.
Three Bridges Bumbles beat Labour Reds 6-3 with Dave Critchley
hitting a maximum for Bumbles and Kevin Reilly replying with one for
the Labour side. picked up their first win of the season, 5-4
against The Plough Ifield B for whom Tony Martin hit his second 180
of the season. In the B Division Legion Lions continued their
winning ways with Collum McDonagh (pictured)
checking out on a fin as they beat Conservative Club 5-4. Richard
Allen had a 120 finish for The Old Plough and Mick Lancaster had a
180 for The Rose and Crown as The Old Plough won their clash 8-1.
Labour Rebels beat The Swan B 6-3 and The Pelham Buckle beat The
Downsman 5-4 in the other matches. |

of 158 from Will Bolton and 120 from Paul Chesworth
(pictured) helped current champions The Swan move to the
top of the A Division this week as they beat Three Bridges Bumbles
6-3. The Royal Oak beat The Plough Ifield B 7-2 with a 180 from the
Plough's Tony Martin while the Labour Club got back to winning ways
with a 6-3 result against The Plough Ifield with a maximum from Dave
Harris and a 121 checkout for Warren Grantham. In the other A
Division match Labour Reds picked up their first win of the season,
6-3 against The Imperial with the Broadfield sides' George Coultrip
checking out on 111. Legion Lions still head the B Division with a
6-3 win against Pelham Buckle.Labour Rebels beat Conservative Club
by the same score, as did the Downsman against The Swan B. In the
other match Lost Legion recorded an 8-1 win against bottom of the
table The Rose and Crown. |
Paul Matthews Trebles

retained the Paul Matthews Trebles competition at the Labour Club
with Steve Mecrow, Ernie Potter and Terry Harmsworth beating
team-mates Kevin Fishwick, Phil Smith and Mal Bradford in the final
2-1. Losing semi-finalists were Labour Reds treble, Dave Blows,
Steve Souter and Roy Oxlade and the Three Bridges Bumbles/Labour
Club treble of Graham Martin, Steve Riggs and Ian Holman. Royal
Oak's Duncan Elms hit the only maximum in the competition and Graham
Martin checked out on 100.

118 finish from Tommy Walker helped The
Swan move to the top of the A Division this week after a 9-0 win at
The Imperial with Sperry and Three Bridges Bumbles just one point
behind. Although The Plough Ifield lost 7-2 against Sperry they had
a 180 from Russell Davies and a superb finish of 160 from John
Scudder as he beat Crawley super league player Steve Mecrow 2-1.
Alan Burling (pictured) had a 126 finish as
Three Bridges Bumbles won 8-1 against The Plough Ifield B and The
Royal Oak beat Labour Reds 6-3 with Paul Trivass hitting a 180 for
The Oak. In the B Division, Labour Rebels
beat last weeks leaders The Pelham Buckle 7-2 to remain unbeaten
along with Legion Lions and Conservative Club who also won this
week. Legion Lions are top after an 8-1 win against The Swan B while
Matt Lancaster had a 180 for Conservative Club as they beat The Downsman 5-4.
Duane Adams added to his 125 finish from the first week of the
season with a 118 finish for The Downsman. In the other match The
Old Plough picked up their first win of the season in style, 8-1
against Lost Legion whose Gary Rice struck a maximum. |
Week 2 Round-up (13th October 2008)
by Ian Holman Labour Club hold on to their lead at the top
of the A Division after a 7-2 win at The Imperial, although next
week they have a bye which will see the chasing pack leap frog over
them. Kevin Fishwick struck his third maximum of the season for Sperry
as they had another 6-3 win, this time beating Three Bridges
Bumbles. Mal Bradford also hit a maximum for Sperry. The Swan responded well after their defeat last week
with an 8-1 win away to Labour Reds with The Swan's Paul Chesworth
taking out 116. The Royal Oak kicked off
their season with an 8-1 win away to The Plough Ifield with Paul
Woods notching a 180. In the B Division, The Pelham buckle moved to
the top with a 6-3 win against The Old Plough, Legion Lions
had another 5-4 win, this time against The Downsman with Jim
Longhurst (pictured) checking out on an impressive 120.
After a bye last week, Conservative Club got the better of Lost
Legion, winning 5-4 at the Labour Club and The Swan B beat The Rose
& Crown 5-4.

Week 1 Round-up (6th October 2008)

the A Division, last seasons double winners The Swan started the new
season with a defeat at home to former champions Sperry 6-3. Three
Bridges Bumbles had an 8-1 win away to last season's B Division
winners The Imperial and Labour Club beat The Plough Ifield B by the
same score with Ian Holman and Rob Metcalfe registering maximums. In
the other A Division fixture The Plough Ifield beat Labour Reds 6-3.
In the B Division, The Downsman won 5-4 away to Lost Legion with
Duane Adams (pictured) checking out on 125 and
Labour Rebels won 8-1 at The Rose and Crown. The Pelham Buckle beat
The Swan B 6-3 and Legion Lions beat The Old Plough 5-4. |
Alan Bowyer Memorial Singles (29th September 2008)

league kicked off the season with the Alan Bowyer Memorial Singles
at Three Bridges Football Club with the Swan's Adam Campbell winning
the Final 2-0 against Labour Reds' Ty Coward. Fifty-two players
entered the competition and in the Semi-Finals Campbell beat another
Labour Reds player Kevin Reilly 2-0 and Coward was in good form and
checked out on 116 as he beat Sperry's
Phil Smith 2-0. In
the Quarter-Finals Campbell beat one of Sperry's new signings Kevin Fishwick 2-1, Reilly beat Labour Club's Ian Holman 2-0, Smith beat
The Swan's Justin Peters 2-1 and Coward beat The Swan's Tommy Walker
2-0. Six maximums were hit during the evening with Holman hitting
his in a 13 dart deciding leg against The Old Plough's Darren Hunt
in a last 16 tie. Fishwick had two and the others were struck by
Coward, Stan Jackson and Peters. Campbell hit a 112 finish, Peters had a 108
and Hunt 100. Campbell picked up £90 in prize money plus 'The Alan
Bowyer Memorial Trophy' which he keeps for a year. Coward picked up
£40 as runner-up while the semi-finalists Reilly and Smith won £25
each and £35 went to the leagues chosen charity for the season. Full results are
