BullseyeThe dominance of  Sperry over the last three years in the Paul Matthews Trebles was ended after both their  trebles were eliminated  in this season’s playoffs at a packed Three Bridges Football Club. Last year’s winning trio lead by Steve Mecrow were beaten 2-0 in the first round by Labour Rebels  and Phil Smith’s attempt to regain the Paul Matthews Rosebowl after two years, ended in a semi-final defeat at the hands of The Swan. This followed wins for The Swan against  Royal Oak, The Lions and Tom Walker’s  Swan trio to put Adam Campbell’s treble, including Graham Brook and Paul Chesworth, through to the final. Meanwhile the  Labour Club’s trio lead by Lee Nicholls with Ian Holman and Nigel Panton, reached this stage with wins over Royal Oak, Labour Rebels  and Justin Peters’ Swan treble. The final proved to be a tightly fought affair with the Labour Club decisive on their doubles to win 2-0, Ian Holman checking out on 78 to take the Rosebowl and the £60 prize money.
