| 2009/10 League Format There is one division of ten teams with each team playing each other home and away on a league basis. Each match is played over nine sets of singles, each best of five legs of 501 straight up. A point is awarded for each set won plus a two point bonus for the winning team. The winning team at the end of the season will be declared champions. |

Week 4 (Wednesday 2nd December 2009) by Ian Holman Newhaven
fought back from four-nil down to beat Roffey 5-4 and join them at
the top of the league this week. Newhaven's Darren Woolgar took man
of the match with a 27.94 average. Kez Botting (pictured)
took out a 170 finish for Roffey while team-mates Neil Smith
finished on 135 and Tony Peters on 109. Smith also hit a 180.
Newhaven's Michael Donegan hit his fourth 180 in as many weeks and
also finished on 100 and Dean Watts hit a 180. Lewes beat Eastbourne
DGH 6-3 with Ian 'Sid' Perkins continuing his good current form with
a 28.36 average that included two 180s and a 116 finish to take man
of the match. Keith Price also hit a 180 for Lewes as did DGH's Paul
Whittlesey and Steve White. Whittlesey also checked out on 133 and
Jill Campbell-Miles took out 106. Eastbourne Rail beat Roffey Royals
6-3 with Paul Russell the man of the match with a 27.33 average.
180's were hit from Rail's Jim Withers and Gavin Studholme and the
Royals' Ian Holman and Nathan Pearce. Clive Pearce also took out 105
for Royals'. Worthing beat Brighton Red Oaks 8-1 with James
Greenfield in top form with a man of the match winning 31.31 average
that included a 118 finish. Ken Sowerby hit a 180 for Worthing as
did Oliver Sopp and Martin Baker for Red Oaks'. The match between
Bognor Regis and Brighton Newmarket was postponed and has been
re-scheduled for 6th January. |
Week 3 (Wednesday 25th November 2009) by Ian Holman Roffey
extended their lead at the top of the table to three points with a
7-2 win against Lewes. Kez Botting was man of the match with a 26.16
average as Rob Metcalfe (pictured) struck two
maximums and finishes of 105 and 100, Jason Yates checked out on 157
and 109 and Dan Bradford hit a 180. David Crowhurst and Rod Hawkins
both hit 180s for Lewes with Hawkins also checking out on 116.
Second placed Newhaven beat Roffey Royals 6-3 with Gary Edgar man of
the match with a 27.58 average. Michael Donegan struck his third
maximum in as many weeks while Ian Holman and Clive Pearce also hit
180s for the Royals. Lee Overton checked out on 115 for Newhaven.
Brighton Red Oaks beat Eastbourne Rail 5-4 although Jim Withers was
man of the match for the Eastbourne side with a 30.06 average that
included a 180 and a 112 checkout. Dave Fleming hit two 180s and
Peter Sopp hit one for Red Oaks while Gavin Studholme and Haydon
Filtnese hit 180s for Eastbourne Rail. Studholme also checked out on
132. Worthing beat Bognor Regis 6-3. Bognor's Jason Hills was man of
the match with a 24.89 average while Worthing's James Greenfield
checked out on 120 and Andy Stanford hit finishes of 133 and 100.
Brighton Newmarket's Rob Albiston was man of the match with a 23.48
average that included a 109 finish for Brighton Newmarket as they
were defeated 5-4 by Eastbourne DGH. John Norman hit a 180 and a 113
finish for Newmarket and Tony Cottington hit a 180 for DGH. |
Week 2 (Wednesday 18th November 2009) by Ian Holman Roffey
have a two point lead after the second week of matches after an 8-1
win against Brighton Newmarket. Roffey's Neil Smith hit a 180 as he
took the man of the match award with a 28.75 average. High finishers
from Roffey were Andy MacIntosh with 140, Andy Derrick with 116 and
100 and Jason Yates with 110. Newmarket's Rob Albiston also hit a
180. Newhaven are second in the table following a 5-4 win against
Lewes. In this match Ricki Blay (Lewes) took man of the match with a
28.36 average that included a 180. Other 180's were struck from
Lewes by Dave Harding and Mark Davis while Jake Watts and Michael
Donegan hit maximums for Newhaven. Gary Edgar (Newhaven) had a 100
finish. Bognor Regis bounced back from their opening day defeat with
a 5-4 win against Eastbourne Rail. Here, Gavid Studholme (Eastbourne
Rail) was man of the match with a 26.37 average that included a 180.
Bognor's Jason Hills also struck a maximum. Brighton Red Oaks beat
Roffey Royals 7-2 with The Royal's youngster Nathan Pearce
(pictured) taking man of the match with the best average of
the week of 30.00. Russell Vanner and Martin Baker both hit 180s for
Red Oaks and three of their teammates hit high finishes, Adam Hart
with a 138, Les Vanner with 112 and Peter Sopp with 101. The match
between Worthing and Eastbourne DGH was postponed. |
Week 1 (Wednesday 11th November 2009) by Ian Holman Roffey
pulled off the best result of the new Winter Super League season as
they beat Summer champions Worthing 7-2 despite Worthing's Greg
Upton taking the man of the match award with a 28.29 average.
Roffey's Andy MacIntosh hit a 180 and Kez Botting checked out on
130. Lewes beat Brighton Newmarket 7-2 with Ian Perkins topping the
averages with 29.47 that included a 180 and a 101 finish. Ricki Blay
also hit a 180 for Lewes while Craig Deeley and Phil Merchant
replied for Newmarket. Newhaven are the early leaders after an 8-1
win against Brighton Red Oaks. Newhaven's Gary Edgar was man of the
match in this one with a 26.48 avearge that included a maximum.
Michael Donegan also hit the top score for Newhaven as did Michael
Dine and Martin Baker for Red Oaks. The other two matches ended 5-4
with Roffey Royals beating Bognor Regis and Eastbourne Rail getting
the better off Eastbourne DGH. Bognor's Andy Hills took man of the
match with a 24.32 average including a 180 and the weeks top finish
of 143 in their defeat. Jason Hills also hit a 180 for Bognor while
Clive Pearce and Andy Mason hit 180s for the Royals. Mason also had
a 107 checkout. Jim Withers (pictured) had the best
average of the week as he took the man of the match for Eastbourne
Rail with a 31.81. John Jenkinson finished on 112 for Rail while Don
Stone checked out on 121 and Steve White on 100 for DGH. Sammy
Lawson (DGH) hit the only 180 of this match.
