Merit Cup - How It
Works
Points were awarded to each player for their
results from all games played during the Crawley Friday League Premier
Division season. The more
successful the players they beat were - the more points they were awarded (see
bonus points).
Basic Points were as follows:
Singles
3pts for each 3-0 win, 2pts for each 3-1 win, 1pt for each 3-2 win
Pairs
2pts for each 2-0 win, 1pt for each 2-1 win
All Games
1pt for each 180 scored, 1pt for each 100+ finish
Bonus Points
Players gain 50% of the basic points of any player
they beat (in singles games only)
Points were awarded from all league games
and competitions run by the Crawley Friday League apart from the Good
Friday Singles as this competition is open to all local leagues and the
Captains and Secretaries Cups as these were limited to who could play in the competitions..
In the Knock-out Cup points were awarded as
follows: Trebles as Pairs above, 180's & 100+ finishes as
above. No points were awarded in the team game. Bonus points were
awarded for all games between Premier Division sides. If you were drawn
against an A Division side no bonus points were awarded.
In the Pairs, Flying Pairs and Trebles
competitions points were as Pairs points listed above. No bonus points
were awarded.
In the Singles competition points were
awarded as Singles points above. Bonus points were awarded.
At the end of the season the top 16 players
were invited to play in the Merit Cup competition (sponsored by Bedford
Sports). The draw was decided before the competition started and based
on the qualifiers relevant finishing positions. If any qualified players
were unavailable to take part in the
competition players ranked below moved up a position.
